Is the Aurora Projector loud?

No. It runs whisper quiet — quiet enough to sit on a bedside table and sleep next to. The only sound you'll hear from it is the one you choose to play through the built-in speaker.

What you'll actually hear

Nothing, in a normal bedroom. The moving parts are the part we spent money on, so there's no hum, no whine and no rattle building up over the first few months. If you put your ear next to it in a silent room you'll notice it's on. From a bed, you won't.

Why cheap projectors hum

Because a listing photo can't record sound. The motor is the easiest component to downgrade without anyone noticing until the unit is already in their bedroom, which is exactly why it's the most common complaint in the category. It's also the fault people live with rather than return, because by the time it annoys them the return window has closed.

Ours carries a two-year warranty and a 30-night trial, so if it ever does develop a noise, that's our problem rather than yours.

The speaker is optional

There's a Bluetooth speaker built in, with white noise included. Use it or ignore it — the projector works with the audio off entirely, and plenty of people never pair it.

If you do use it, the white noise is the setting worth trying first. Soft light and steady sound together do more for winding down than either on its own, and it means one device on the nightstand instead of three.

In a nursery or a shared bedroom

This is where quiet actually matters, and it's the main reason people choose ours over a cheaper unit. It's silent enough to run next to a sleeping child, and the timer means it switches itself off without anyone opening the door. In a shared bed, run it on low with a 30-minute timer and the person falling asleep first won't be disturbed.

Common questions

Does the Aurora Projector make noise when it's running?

No. The motor runs whisper quiet. In a normal bedroom you won't hear it from the bed.

Can I use it in a baby's room?

Yes. It's quiet enough to run next to a sleeping child, brightness is fully adjustable, and the timer switches it off without anyone opening the door.

Does it have a fan?

It doesn't need one for normal use. The unit runs cool and the only moving part is the mechanism that drives the light.

Can I turn the speaker off?

Yes. The Bluetooth speaker is optional — the projector works perfectly with the audio off, and many people never pair it.

What white noise sounds are included?

White noise is built in and plays through the same speaker, so you can run light and sound from one device instead of two.

What if mine turns out to be noisy?

Send it back within 30 nights for a full refund, or claim on the two-year warranty and we'll replace it.
