With its IP54 splash resistance, this is a handy lamp and speaker for use near the shower so you don’t have to worry about it the odd splashes, although I would have preferred a slightly higher rating like the IP65 I’ve seen with similar shower lamps. The light effect works great and can be controlled either via the included remote or by touching the power button (various effects and colours to choose from), whilst the sound is solid enough although to be honest I prefer my iPhone 15 Pro Max speaker (just as loud too).

I am pleasantly surprised at the very decent quality of this bathroom lamp / speaker, I honestly didn’t expect much and thought it more of a gimmick than something of any decent quality. It is all very well made and looks quite stylish. You can choose to use its rippling lighting effects which are surprisingly quite effective, particularly in an otherwise darkened room, or you can have it as a more generalised lamp by popping the secondary plastic shade over it. The handy remote control has a wide range of numerous colour, lighting, brightness and effects modes and has a handy timer function so you can select for it to automatically turn off at 30/60/120 mins intervals - handy if you’re using this as a sleep aid or night light in the bedroom. The speaker has some built in soothing sound effects which are nice with good clarity, however I am sure this will mainly be used via its Bluetooth connectivity, when we’re all entertained by our sons wide range of dance tunes. The sound quality is good and it has decent volume level - certainly enough for the bathroom. The beauty of this (and my reason for ordering) is that you charge it up and then take it into the bathroom to use, without needing to have it plugged into the mains when in use. The sellers description reports that this is IP54 splash proof and is suitable for damp environments (although must not be submerged in water), so I am hopeful this will be a much ‘safer’ option for our music loving son going forward. Overall, a good, effective and functional lamp/speaker that works well in the bathroom or as a sleep aid / night light in the bedroom.

First, a note: this thing is not waterproof. Do not put it near the bath while you're in it. It's "moisture proof," allegedly, but definitely not waterproof. The closest it comes to that is when you have the diffuser top on, though even then the speakers are exposed at either side. Speaking of the diffuser top: if you find a clear plastic ring inside the box, like I did, this is supposed to go in the underside of the diffuser top to hold it in place. Push it back into place, and it should click in firmly; once it's in place, it'll sit on top of the lamp/speaker much more securely! The idea behind this thing is clever: you can use it as a Bluetooth speaker (the quality is OK, though the bass was extremely weak until I compensated with the equaliser on my phone), as a nature-sounds generator, and as a lamp. The latter mode includes multiple colours, which swirl around to create an effect a little like light passing through water. The lamp isn't bright enough to do much in a well-lit room, but it shines - no pun intended - in the dark. The colours are themed to the nature sounds, too: blue for the ocean waves, orange and red for a campfire, green for a forest. The bundled remote control - which is also not waterproof! - lets you change the brightness, select different modes, and control playback of a connected Bluetooth device. It also lets you enable a music-sensitive mode, but I found this much too flickery to be of much use. Let's be clear: this is a novelty item, but a pretty fun one. If you've some money burning a hole in your pocket and fancy making your bathtime more interesting, you could do a lot worse!
